Google Street View – the Movie December 18, 2008

Posted by Michael Kowalski in film, whatever.

Watched Antonioni’s fabulous Blow-up again last week. You know, the one where David Hemming’s somewhat sleazy but ineffably cool photographer discovers he has inadvertently photographed a murder in swinging 60’s London. He enlarges the photo until he can make out a grainy corpse (while hitting on a topless Vanessa Redgrave). It’s already been sort of remade as Blow Out, this time with the crime recorded on audio and John Travolta way less cool in the Hemmings part.

Obviously, it’s time for the Google Street View take, a thriller where it turns out the Black Car has inadvertently snapped a murder. Now if only our intrepid developer-cum-hero can depixillate the faces… The action could be padded out with a trail of clues buried in Facebook, Twitter, etc to taste. Finally, a real use for Fire Eagle!
